We’re excited to announce that Taka Kuramoto from Doma, Federal, will be Slinging Plates with Francisco Smoje at Barrio Byron Bay on Tuesday 29 October.
Fresh off a plane from his Japanese homeland, Taka Kuramoto from DOMA Café in Federal, is bringing new inspiration to the flames at Barrio Eatery & Bar. Using the traditional Japanese style of maki which focusses on wood fired cooking, expect a smoky spread of vibrant and creative bite-sized slices of juicy meat and vegetables grilled over fire.
“Our event team MaQui will be popping up all over Byron over the next year, with an exciting calendar of events. First stop, Barrio Eatery & Bar, and we’re looking forward to experimenting with the wood fire in the kitchen.” - Taka Kuramoto, co-owner Doma Federal & Qudo Bellingen
What is Slinging Plates?
On the last Tuesday of the month Barrio head chef Francisco Smoje invites a new culinary artist to create affordable dishes at fixed price points for the local community to enjoy. Chefs are encouraged to work with local producers and have the freedom to create a signature dish or something different to what they’re usually known for.
This month, enjoy Taka’s renowned cooking with $10 / $20 plates (meat & vegan friendly options) alongside a $10 glass of wine by Unico ZeloClark Fine Wines.
